I was released from jail on November 10 and entered the Good News at Noon program on November 11.
It has been the best decision I have made in my life.
Today, I am doing far better than I have in over 20 years. I’m clean from drugs, I report to probation like I’m supposed to, and I’m actually passing my drug tests. I’m going to church at Free Chapel and excelling in the program.
Since being here, I’ve gotten my birth certificate and my driver’s license back, and I now serve as a driver at Good News at Noon. The staff here have been respectful, helpful and loving, like family and make it feel more like a home than a program.
The residents have become like family—friends and mentors. I’ve dug deep into my past, made peace with it, and I’m becoming a better man because of it.
I’m ready for the next step in my life.
