FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Have Questions?

What is the Good News at Noon residential program?

We are a faith based transformational program for men and women, not a homeless shelter. We work with individuals who are tired of living life the way they have been and wish to make a big change. The program is approximately 12-18 months long. For the first 60 days there is no access to electronic devices. We don’t want our residents to have outside distractions. Individuals do not work outside of our campus while in phase 1. This helps to focus on themselves and begin the process of working through past trauma. Individuals live on campus, attend multiple classes daily, are responsible for chores, and are required to attend church on Sundays. All meals are provided and the program is free until our residents get a job; at that point there is a small participation fee. We assist our participants in finding employment and/or receiving vocational training. Applications can be filled out with a case manager Monday - Friday. Once the application is submitted we can schedule the individual for their in-person interview. At the interview it is required to perform a drug/alcohol urine test and the results should be negative. Random drug screening will also occur once admitted into the program.

Do I have to be a Christian to apply?

No, all are welcome. Our resident class schedule includes some Biblically focused study, but it is not mandatory to be a Christian.

Do you offer short term stays like a homeless shelter?

At this time, no. We are not a night to night shelter.

Does GN@N have the capability to help someone detox?

We are not a detox/rehab facility. We recommend individuals go to Avita, Laurelwood, or another medically appropriate detox facility prior to entering our program.

What services are offered to the homeless community?

Monday - Friday we offer showers, toiletries, access to laundry, clothing, and phone/device charging services. Individuals may also use our address to receive mail. Good News at Noon provides lunch and dinner for the community at 12:00pm and 7:00pm. We also offer some light case work to refer individuals to appropriate services in our area as needed.
